Exactly what type of motors are being used? This would be a fun project! I can do the structural stuff no problem, it’s the motor stuff I am blank on.

Hey Ray,
I’m not an expert in windmill motors too, but I guess it all depends on the type of windmill, you are trying to build.
The bigger mills will probably require more powerful motors, which will cost more, and may be more difficult to install.

Why do you keep calling these WindMills??? A mill grinds grain. Are you grinding grain??? These are wind TURBINES.

I certainly understand that these are wind turbines, but people also often call them windmills for some reason.
And it’s actually more well-known, rather than turbines.
I don’t want to confuse anyone, that’s why I refer to windmills.

Why not call them wind generators, A turbine sounds like something used in a jet engine or a dam? You know, since a generator generates electricity and generally a electric generator is either made or used.

I know what you mean, but the problem is that people call these machines differently.
Some call them wind turbines, others call them windmills, and now you are saying wind generators.
As you can see, there are lots of variations, but I think we all know what we are talking about.
